Disney World day five: part two

After our trip to the temple we went back to our room and had peanut butter sandwiches (I had brought along some groceries for the few meals we wouldn't have covered by the dining plan)
At this point Doug was in need of a nap so I took the girls on a Pop Century scavenger hunt.
I printed out the scavenger hunt before we left from a link on the dis boards.
It was a lot of fun and we took a ton of pictures but I'll only post some of our favorites.
1) Take a picture next to the sign with the year of your birth - they had this great walkway next to the lake that had all these years with fun facts.
Here I am next to 1977 because they didn't have the girls years...

2) Find the sign indicating the year Walt Disney World opened...

3) Take pictures next to all the icons.
We traipsed about the entire resort for this going to sections we hadn't gone to before and didn't go to again. It was a lot of fun.
Here is one of the giant yo yo's...

4) Take a picture of your favorite phrase on one of the buildings. Not that this is a 'favorite'. I didn't enjoy hearing it. But, I heard it so often as a young teenager that I thought it would be funny. Now, I say it to Abi sometimes in jest.

Back to the Icons, the girls loved Lady...

and the Tramp...

5) Find Goofy holding a surfboard. This one was easy. We passed it every day on our way to Classic Hall. It wasn't working while we were there but during the summer it squirts out water so kids can play in it.

6) Find the giant computer keyboard and spell your name.
We found it by the pool in the nineties section and had a lot of fun jumping around on the letters.

At that point we had a little accident and had to go back to the room to change. Doug was awake when we arrived so after changing some clothes, he accompanied us for the rest of the hunt.
We ended in the lobby area of Classic Hall with the instructions to
7) Take pictures of your favorite shadow boxes
and
8) Find a shadow box with the moon landing
We took this picture for Doug. Abi is pointing at the old school video camera. She thought it was a space ship.

We had to get a picture of the Atari!

I took a picture of this one because it reminded me of my childhood.

Then we finally found the Moon landing one!

We then stepped back into the arcade. We had more Disney magic with a few of the games and the pinball machine. I think they must do this on purpose.

Then we went to the food court and shared a snack. It was pudding with crushed oreo and gummy worms. Very yummy.

At this point we still had a few hours until my parents were due to arrive so we let Abi get into her swimsuit for a little swimming.
I got this picture with Baloo and Mowgli on the way over to the kiddie pool...

By this point in our trip Maddy had pretty much graduated from wobbly walker to walking pro and wanted to be down walking around ALL the time.

Abi swam until it was too cold and then we went back to the room, changed, and relaxed a bit. I found out that my parents plane had landed so we knew they would be arriving soon.
Abi had been asking to play with these giant foam legos by the front entrance to Classic Hall but I kept putting it off because I thought it would be the perfect thing to do while we waited for Grandma and Grandpa.
I asked her if she wanted to go play with them now. She was very excited. So, we went to the front and she played for about a half an hour while we watched buses coming in, wondering which one would hold my parents.
Finally, I spotted my parents climbing off the bus.
Abi had no idea they were coming so she was still oblivious.
I said, "Abi! Look!"
She looked up and didn't see them at first.
Then she did!

It was a great reunion. She was so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa and so happy they were going to be there with us for the rest of the time.
We waited for them while they checked in and then walked to their room.
I made them give me their key before they went in so I could set up their welcome bag (doubling as a Christmas present) and banner...

My mom knew about all the clothes I was making the girls for this trip but had no idea I was making a shirt for her as well. She loves Life Is Good, so I found a design on the Dis boards and made her a Disney Life Is Good shirt.

We also gave them some ponchos, their refillable mugs, some Harry potter stuff, treats, a notebook, etc...

We had originally planned on going over to the Boardwalk tonight but my dad was kind of tired so we decided it would be better to just hang out and relax.
First, we took them over to the Food Court for their first Disney meal.
Abi had the cheese pizza again with grapes, chocolate pudding, and apple juice...

Doug had the veggie lasagna again and I tried the Nachos. They were huge but so so good. They became my go to meal.

After dinner we spent some time hanging out with them and then Doug and Maddy and my dad went to sleep (they were just a few doors down from us) and my mom, Abi,and I got drinks in our mugs (hot cocoa for me!) and walked around the grounds and lake.
It was such a joy to have my mom there hanging out again. Abi was in heaven.

Next up: Epcot!

So fun! I am trying to decide if I want to do Disney World or a Disney cruise. I had always thought cruise since we go to Disneyland a lot, but you are making my decision so much harder. I love all the surprises you had for Abi. I am also laughing about the boys crashing early with the baby, while the girls played at night. That is how the girls in my family are, too. I think it is because girls just can't stop talking when they get together. Anyway, keep the updates coming.

What a great idea to put together a separate blog just for the Disney trip. There certainly is enough excitement and activity there to be dedicated to its own blog. I felt overwhelmed when I finally got around to posting about Disney, and that's why I put together a photo book. It looks like Abi and Maddie had a magical time with lots of surprises and fun characters they got to meet. Can't wait to here more.

Yay!Comments. I was hoping people would read this blog. Be prepared though... there is SO much more!

Julie- We want to go on a Disney cruise too. We're thinking that we will go to Disney world again when Maddy is 5 or so and then go on a cruise when they are a little older (like 8 and 12 or more). My cousin Lora (the one we stayed with) goes on cruises all the time though and they have done a disney one with their younger kids and had a great time. My sister and her family went on one too and had a great time.
