Cinderella dress

I knew I wanted to make the dress for Maddy's first Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience.
But how to find out what she would want without telling them about the trip?
I just have been telling the girls maybe next year we will go.
So, originally (6 months ago) Maddy said she wanted to have an Aurora blue dress.
I thought out my design and when I went shopping for fabric I got fabric that would look good as an Aurora blue dress.
Well, before I could sew it she had changed her mind and wanted a Cinderella blue dress.
I thought- great. That will be even easier as I already have an actual Cinderella pattern.
But when I finished it I just wasn't satisfied.
I felt like the colors looked weird and the style seemed plain.
These pictures are from the night I first finished it.... (the bodice is actually a little darker than it showed up in these pictures but not quite as dark as it shows up in the bottom pictures. )

I kept thinking about it and thinking about it and I just knew that I needed to add something.
Finally I checked to see if I had enough fabric to make ruffles along the bottom in the two colors used for the bodice and the puffs.
I did!
Now, there wasn't enough to make them as roughly as I kind of wanted and it is imperfect but I think the end result is SO much better.

Cinderella movie night

Our Cinderella movie night was so much fun!
We set up some of our favorite Cinderella themed things with the cupcakes we made.

We each had our own small pumpkin filled with Cheesy Potato Soup.
After dinner Abi painted her big pumpkin for a school project.

this is what it looked like when she was all done.
Maddy played with her Cinderella Lego Duplos.

Sofia the first Skirt

I used the apron ruffle skirt pattern to make this Sofia the first themed skirt for Abi for the trip! I love how it turned out.

Disney Movie Night: Princess and the Frog

For our Princess and the Frog movie night we used our Princess cookbook.
I saw the Bayou meatloaf recipe in it but made my own recipe because I have never tasted another meatloaf I like. Then I made Southern Spoon bread and we had corn with it.
I also attempted to make beignets. They were pretty good but a little over cooked.
We also had out chocolate frogs.
Afterward we played Kiss the Frog.

Disney Movie Night: Wreck It Ralph

This was one of my favorite movie nights to date.
It is just such a fun movie and it really holds everyone's attention.
For dinner we had meatloaf "cupcakes" with mashed potato frosting and topped with "Sour Bill" peas.
We had Diet Pepsi (caffeine free) for our drink because of the volcano with the cola in it.
For dessert I gave each person a plate with an individual peanut butter container, some mini doughnuts, pretzel sticks, apples, and candy to decorate our own Sugar Rush cars. I was going to do something like Twinkies or wafer cookies for the body of the car but I am so glad I went with apples instead. I wanted something that wasn't candy for the cars and it tasted so much better to have one thing that wasn't.

Our cars...

Abi's was... interesting. I have no idea why she piled the tires on top.
But it was cute and she loved it. However it way too sweet and she couldn't finish even half of it.
For our activity the girls colored pictures of Vanellope.
Out of order but here is Maddy eating her car before I could get a picture of it!

The finished drawings...

Sofia the first dress

We are planning to go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique again on our upcoming Disney World trip. Abi made her dress choice easier for me because she said she wanted to be Sofia the First for Halloween. We have told her that if we "ever" go again, she would need to bring a dress because the Fairy godmother makes the dress special only your first time. So she said she wanted to take her Sofia dress if we go again. Win. Win.
However, the dress ended up being really challenging.
I used a pattern for a Cinderella dress and had to tweak it a lot to be a Sofia dress.
I screwed up so many times. AND it looks different from this now as well.
I took these pictures the morning after I finished it.
Sorry they are so dark.
As you can see it is a little too low in the front. The pattern must have run HUGE because I did it one size bigger like I usually do (so they last longer) and it was way too big... this was even after taking it in and up a few times already.
So, after I took these pictures and she was off to school, I took in the back about 5 inches and added a zipper.
It is still a bit too big and she will have to wear an undershirt. But she loves it. So that's all that really matters.

Disney Movie Night: The Incredibles

To celebrate superheroes we had "hero" sandwiches with chips.
For dessert we had Frozone's Ice Cream Sundae with "superfruit".

Disney Movie Night: Peter Pan

For our Peter Pan movie night we went with a pirate theme.
We had pirate ship pizzas.
We made Captain Hook breadsticks... although I kind of think this one turned out looking more like a penguin than a hook.
We had some Pirate "Ale" (sprite) and chocolate dublooms.
